About Us

With a background in large-scale commercial developments, we decided to bring the same level of creativity and design, technical brilliance and sound project management to residential projects.

We wanted our residential clients to benefit from the design quality and technical expertise gained from over 40 years of experience.

As architects, we don’t just extend our clients’ homes: more importantly we bring a level of design detail to create what we call ‘quality of space’ to truly enhance them.

Regardless of project size, we provide a personalised, hands-on service throughout the design and building process; from sketch ideas through to completion on site.

We have a well-established relationship with local planning authorities; and with a 100% success rate in gaining planning permission for our clients, our expertise will guide you through the planning process.

Employing an architect is an essential part of any building project, regardless of size. We will facilitate the detail management of the complete build process, keeping firm control of the costs. Thus the initial outlay of our appointment will be offset by the avoidance of making expensive abortive decisions.

Our aim is to achieve the necessary design quality to enhance your home, its value and your enjoyment.

However we know the real success of any service is in the end result …

“Right from the beginning, Kimble Roden demonstrated a level of service which was exemplary. At each step of the process, Edwina kept us up to date and set realistic expectations of time and budget. The whole project was managed so smoothly and on time. But what really blew us away was the finished result. It was not just the overall look that friends comment on but the small design details which really make our home unique. We can’t thank her enough.”

“We engaged Kimble Roden in 2011 and have been incredibly impressed with Emma’s work. She excels in attention to detail and works tirelessly to make sure we are
comfortable with every step of the project. Emma makes the process feel straightforward which was no mean feat as we are demanding customers!”

Edwina Kimble BA(Hons) B Arch, ARB. Practice Director

“I am just as passionate about design today as I was 30 years ago. In my career I have worked on multi-million pound projects to re-designing a family home but the size of the project really doesn’t matter. It’s all about the quality of space and it’s only through great design and attention to detail that this can be achieved.”

Before establishing Kimble Roden, Practice Director Edwina Kimble worked for some of the Northwest’s most significant architectural practices, including Stephenson Architecture, Aedas and OMI Architects.

She was prominent figure in the regeneration of Manchester city centre, as Project Architect for a range of high profile developments including St James’ House, No 1 Marsden Street, The Observatory and Left Bank, Spinning Fields.

During her career, spanning over 30 years, Edwina has worked on a number of award winning RIBA projects. Her architectural drawings have also been exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

Emma Roden BA (Hons) B Arch, ARB Practice Director

“Good design really can improve your life. I love being able to help clients re-design their homes to improve the way they live. It’s not always about creating additional rooms – sometimes you just need to re-assess the space you already have – this is where a good architect can really make the difference.”

Prior to setting up Kimble Roden, Emma has worked at a range of award winning practices in Manchester and London including AFL architects, O’Connell East, Maap and Holfords.

Over the last 18 years she has worked on many high profile city centre developments around Ducie Street, the Northern Quarter and Castefield for large developer clients. She has also had extensive experience in listed building developments, student housing and commercial schemes. Her strengths lie in being able to communicate and connect with her clients, and to work diligently to achieve high levels of design and technical competence.
